LX865 starter delay

My lx865 has a starter delay. you turn the key, & some times, after a couple of seconds, the starter engages.
Some times I have to turn the key multiple times to get the starter to work. ( Its getting worse.) The battery is hot, battery connections are clean. I pulled the starter end hot cables off, they were clean enough, but I cleaned them some more, no change.
I expect the problem is somewhere on the "relay board", that cluster of relays on the fire wall, left side of the engine. can any one share shortcuts to which relay is involved with the starter motor function?
Thanks ... CE

if there is a delay after you turn the key, it might be a bad ignition/key switch(good news is there cheap and easy to replace, I'm on my third switch now in 10 yrs on my LX 865, lots of things made in china don't last even OEM switches)
you say battery is good and you cleaned connections at battery and starter(I'm guessing)

have you also check conditions of connections at starter relay, key switch, fuses for all and what about grounds to things

corrosion can travel UNDER the insulation and not be visible
these machines are getting older all the time and as such, corrosion is a common issue in old wires

checking voltage reading at all points might be worth doing as well!

Well, in the middle of the job, it totally failed to restart today. In desperation, I attempted to bypass everything jumped from battery(+) directly to the starter solenoid terminal. I got the same click I was getting when I hit the ignition switch. checking all these other things will be a lot easier than pulling the starter, but I will probably have to do the starter thing. we used another machine to get the lift arms up perhaps 2 feet, & blocked. tomorrow I will go better prepared to check stuff, and probably pull the starter.
(2020 hindsight, if you have a problem, fix it before the engine wont restart with the loader frame down.)

when you said you checked battery, did you LOAD test it, or just used a volt meter?

and have you tried adding jump[er cables to things before doing more intense things(lifting boom and or?)

as if there is a voltage flow issue, from, battery to starter, adding some extra amps, might get it going for you, to at least do more trouble shooting with boom locked up out of the way then1

and again, corrosion can do a lot of funny things with flow, and is rather common issues on these older machines, I had more than my share on mine, so I know this all too well!

I even replaced a starter thinking it one that, and ended up being corrosion in wires going to fuse box/relay!, corrosion was under insulation on wire and not seen, but voltage readings found it, , replaced wires and all good
well, till new starter dies a yr later, HAHA as the starter I got was a an aftermarket one and well, I don;'t think quality was very good, ,
