On either side of the radiator there are 2 steel levers that seem to move the radiator backwards.... can anyone explain how this works?

I have a small leak on the bottom hose , I think it's just the clamp... kinda tough to get in there.

is there enough play in the hoses so it's designed to be moved backwards?

yes the radiator is designed to be moved rearwards so you can get access to the oil cooler behind it, for cleaning and such
there should be enough hose to allow this, if the correct hoses are on it!

when its pulled out(radiator) there is about 2+ inches of space created between the oil cooler and the radiator, it will sort of lock in place

just make sure you push it back before trying to close the door!

Yes, pull/rotate the levers back and they will lock straight out. The hoses have enough travel designed in to let the radiator to move back the 3 or so inches. Still not tons of room, but better.
