Hello I have a LX865 that quit pulling on right side, no forward or reverse, I have not had any problems in the past, the linkage is all intact and the levers feel normal, it will make a slight grind while trying to get it going but nothing steady or consistant. Where do I start trying to find the culprit? Thanks in advance. Ron

Since you did not say the charge pressure light is on, we can assume the pump is rotating. Engage the parking brake and stroke the lever. If the engine pulls down, then the problem is in the gearbox. If the engine does not pull down, then you will need to pull the pump and hydro motor and see what is broke. You might raise the right side and see if you can rotate the wheels. You should be able to.

Correction. You should NOT be able to rotate the wheels easily if at all.

The emergency brake has never worked, I did jack the right side up and turned the wheels both directions, they were not easy to turn but did, while turning I could hear a noise from under the seat area, maybe a slight clunk or click but it quit after turning them a few turns, what next? Thanks

The operators manual should show you how to adjust the parking brake. You need some way of isolating the pump and motor from the gearbox and chain case. Take the time to adjust the brake and you will have a clearer picture of where the problem may lie.

Actually I started it tonight to see if it would turn without a load and I had a couple warning lights on and the horn was going crazy. Both are on the right of the display, the one on top to the right hour meter is flashing and the center one on the bottom row, do these warnings give any clue as to what's wrong? My wife printed the instructions to adjust the parking brake, I will try to do that this weekend. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Ron

The only light which pertains to the hydrostat is the red light on the top row to the right of the fuel gauge. If that light comes on then the light on the left side bottom center will come on telling you to stop...... The lights you have on are for the water temperature. I do not think the top row lights flash, but when a problem such as overheating occurs, the instrument panel changes to display that circuits information and will illuminate the pertinent light on the top row. You should have seen the water temperature displayed in the center display.

The hydrostat charge pressure light shows a gear with a teardrop in the center.

I got the emergency brakes adjusted, the levers are still off but when I start it with the brake on it is making a slight grind, where do I go next?

With the parking brake engaged, start the engine and move the lever like you would do to make the loader move and see if the engine pulls down. If the charge pressure light is not on, then it is safe to conclude the pump is turning since the charge pump is in the right hydro pump. When you say right, you mean as you are sitting in the seat facing forwards, correct? I suppose it could be a bad servo on the pump, but not too likely. The most likely cause is either the hydro motor or the gearbox. If the engine does not pull down and you want to isolate the pump from the motor, remove the two large hoses from pump and cap the fittings on the pump. Now restart the engine and slowly stroke the lever. It should definitely pull the engine down now. This will not damage anything in the pump since the relief valves are in the pump. If the engine does not pull down with the fittings capped, then you have a problem in the pump.

I just made sure the right brake was on and stroked the right lever and it has nothing, it will not bog the motor at all, the grinding I heard was coming from the left side, the lever was pushed back and it was the left side brake grinding.

Will these be one inch standard pipe caps?

1 1/16”-12 JIC 37 degree flare. If you do not have a hydraulic business close, NAPA should be able to get them for you.
I went to three auto supply stores that make hydraulic hoses and not a one could help me, I found a cap on the machine back by the hydraulic filter that would work, I will take it off and check a couple logging supply places this week. I did crack the big hose fittings and try to start it and had a good supply of oil coming out of the fittings, does this give me any clues?

You need to see if the pump will build pressure. You might check at the ag dealers in your area if you have no luck otherwise.

My neighbor came by and we were discussing it, we decided to swap the hoses, we took the hoses from the right servo pump and moved them to the left drive side, it worked great. What do we need to check next?

Now it is time to remove the hydro motor on that side. Whether the problem is in the gearbox of motor, the motor still needs to be removed. The motor shaft slips into a gear in the gearbox which drives another gear where the parking brakes are located.

I pulled the hydro motor today, the motor is fine. What I found was a splined collar that slides over the motor shaft and goes into the final drive gear, the inside of the splined collar is totally smooth where the pump shaft rides, the pump splines are fine. Does anyone know what that part is called so I know what part to order?

I found the part, this thing is reversible, I flipped it around and it fits good. While I am down this far, I may as well flip the other side. Thanks for pointing me in the right directions. Ron
