Hi everyone! New to this forum, I hope you all can help shed some light on the following questions that I have about a 1997 LX865 New Holland Skid Loader that I recently purchased. It has a light white smoke coming from the exhaust doesn’t seem to do it all of the time and is intermittent. I’ve replaced the “Heater/Thermostat” that delivers raw fuel to the intake during start-up and I still see the same issue. However, I did notice that even when my machine gets warm the EIC displays “cold” most of the time meaning it thinks its not to temperature. It will randomly display the temperature and jump back to reading “cold”. I was going to try replacing the actual temp sending unit next to see if that’s the issue The EIC has been replace within the last 250 hours so I don’t think the issue is there. Any thoughts on this light smoke would be greatly appreciated. Since I’ve got the machine I just started to complete regular “tune-up” items, changing the oils, etc…and have a couple of questions as follows: 1) Next on my list is adjusting the valves. Where are the timing marks located on this engine (Ford 332T)? They are not on the balancer as I’m used to….or could someone tell me how to find TDC so I can adjust the valves accordingly? One last question, are the valve lash adjustment screws supposed to have a lock nut on them? Mine do not which seems strange to me. 2) How do you set the injection pump timing on a 332T engine with the Delphi pump? Specifically how you find TDC and on what cylinder; what are the degrees BTDC it should be set at? Thanks in advance for the help!!
