I have an Lx865 Turbo with 2400hrs that will sometimes keep pushing down on the boom lifting the front wheels when using the float function.
I have to kick the heal and then re-engage the float again. I notice it really only does this when I'm reversing trying to drag the bucket.

I have a full service manual but i don't see anything for troubleshooting the float function.

Any help would be appreciated!

My guess is the linkage is "sticky" and you're not really getting all the way into float. The linkage and the valve is under the plate between your feet. Take it off, clean out dirt and lube/penetrating oil all the joints.

There isn't any link between the forward-reverse and the boom functions. My guess is that you see it more in reverse because the machine motion is shifting your body and making it harder to push the pedal completely. There is a bolt on the side of the pedal that you can loosen and adjust the fore-aft angle of the pedal. That may help in being able to get it all the way into float.

Thank you for the prompt response.
Regarding my body shifting, I'm pushing the pedal all the way down into the detent, and it seems to be holding the pedal just fine. Would I need to make any adjustments on the linkage to the pedal while in detent?

To be honest, I can't remember if there is any separate adjustment for the link to the valve. Take the cover off and check out the pedal and linkage. My guess is still dirt, rust, something keeping you from getting full travel. Second guess would be check the connections on the shaft. Have had roll pins through it holding the link arms partially break and cause good control in one direction and not so good in the other. Third guess, something broke, rusted, loose, etc. letting the linkage or valve flex or shift. It has to be something in that area.
