LX665 Temp Sending unit

My LX665 is showing an overheating code, but the temp races wildly from 160 to 240 then back to 190 and so on. The temp changes about every second. I assumed the Temp sending unit is bad and have purchased a new one. When I had a hard time finding the old one, I downloaded the service manual off the net, but it doesn't tell me either. Can anyone tell me where that 'lil bugger is hiding?

I'm not familiar with the lx665, but the sending unit should be at the water pump at the rear of the engine, usually at the thermostat housing. Open the engine shroud and look straight down just behind the cooling fan, the sender will have a wire attached to the top. Hope this helps!
