Not sure how this got started, but I have found myself running the older "ford" V8/inline 6 cyl (pre-triton motors) oil filters on my 99 Lx885 for the engine oil filter. I have the 332 engine (3cyl new holland IIRC) It calls for a wix 51521 oil filter according to wix online. Not sure if thats a new number, but Ive been running 51515 or equivalents or several years now, like a Purolater P30001, or K&N HP-3001, or a Motorcraft FL1A. I looked over the specs on the wix site, and unless I missing something, they appear to be the same( the ford V8 filters to the 51521 called for), except the ford V8 filters appear to be taller (more volume), and there is also a 51773 Wix that is a 2 quart filter, although Ive not been running that, but I used to on my trucks. Not sure it would clear the side panel either due to its "height". The LS series appears to run a completely different filter set up, and the lx985, also runs a different filter. Just wondering if I was the only one doing this, or its old hat, and I just missed it along the way. For some, the FL-1A or equivalents are very easy to come by, but the number wix shows for this machine, is clearly on slow moving number. Comments, thoughts, suggestions, corrections ?
