Hello. I recently purchased a NH LS170 skid steer which has a cracked right drive motor housing. though I did not try to run due to total fluid loss, I have removed drive motor and inspected sprocket and chains as well as rotational movement of gearbox. I don't detect any issue other than some slack in chains. drive motor also seems to turn smooth and free. Does anyone have an idea on cause of split case? Also unsure of year. Can anyone decode serial number for me? Looks like LM0019121. Thanks in advance.

They can just crack with time and use. I had never seen one before till i caught up with a bloke that was repairing machines like i did, he had one with a hair line crack in the housing, no reason for it due to impact, it just... cracked.
