Hello My LX 865 has a warning horn going off, when I start it the horn starts going off and the instrument cluster shows the engine temperature then another one will flash 255 degrees and the light on the bottom right center of the instrument panel flashes, nothing is hot because it will do the same when it is 10 degrees out after setting a week, everything seems to be working fine, I changed the temperature sending unit and it did not help anything. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Unbolt the instrument panel and you will find two connectors. The smaller one is the one that sends the inputs from the senders to the panel. Pin 2, pu/ltgn wire is the one for the temp sender. Unplug the connector. Use an ophm meter and using your probes place one on pin 2 and the other probe on a good ground. If the ohm meter goes to 0 then either the sender is bad or the wire is shorted to ground. Remove the wire from the temp sender and recheck the ohm reading. You should have no reading. If you have any ohm reading then you have a wire shorted to ground.

Thank You Mike, I will try to find a ohm meter and check it out. So the lower right center flashing light is water temp?, I changed the sending unit but there is another sending unit next to the one I replaced I cant find that one or part number in the book, not sure why it has two.

The engine temp sender is in the front of the head
