LS120 not charging

Hi all, my newly aquired LS120 doesn't seem to be charging. Battery good, takes a full charge(12.6 v). How do I diagnose the charging system to find if it is the regulator/alt or stator or some other part of the charging system? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions

The first thing i would check is the regulator on the back of the alternator. If the previous owner did any welding to the machine and forgot to remove a battery cable he probably took the regulator out. I have done it myself before
