Guys I've been meaning to ask this question, when operating the bucket arms there is a 'bang' when I stop the bucket while it's going down, and a small 'bang' when raising?. I'm operating the paddle normally, if I'm easy on the paddle it's fine and no 'bang'. Is this normal or should there be slight built in restriction when first raising or lowering. It's just aggravating when your moving dirt at a good pace.

Sounds like the arms are hitting or rubbing on something. You need to have someone outside the cab while you operate listen and trace the source of the noise.

It sounds like you have sticky valves. My excavator does this now and then. Someone told me that if you switch to synthetic hydraulic oil, that it will clean out the system. They said you need to empty half the old fluid and fill with synthetic oil. Run that for several hours and drain the entire system and refill with synthetic. I don't know if there is any system cleaner that you can add to the oil that will free sticking valves. I also don't know if I am full of dog droppings on this issue. My other thought is that if your spool valve springs are getting week? Just guessing here. Joe

I greased up all the pivot points from the foot paddles to the main hyd. control. That seemed to have a slight improvement. I'll know more tomorrow after I finish a job.

That kinda sounds like pin wear. As the ram starts to move the arm will move back or forth depending on the way the ram moves. It will take up the wear and could make a clunk as it pushes to a solid part of the pin.
Just a thought.....

After closer inspection, it's the foot paddles!. Without the engine running, I can hear some grinding and a couple of hard points?. Another first!, &#*@$%.
