I purchased a John Deere 320 skid steer about a year ago. If I had know about what all these machines do I would have had one years ago. Have a few attachments and looking at purchasing a mulcher. Just found the Forum and would like to know from experienced users about a low flow mulcher. Are they worth it or should I look at trading my skjid steer for a high flow machine. I use it arould the farm and cut brush for the neighbors. Are used low flow mulchers available and what to look for. Thanks John

This is interesting because I see a bobcat brand flail mower on the Duluth mn craigs list that claims to have a switch on the motor for either low or high flow. It looks like a fairly heavy duty unit so maybe full fledged mulchers have the same option.

When look for an attachment, look at flow requirments of the attachments and size to the machine. I don't know exact spec, but I would say 17-18 gpm. Other then a few attachments, high flow is overated in most cases. You maybe able to feed a highflow a little fater, but actual power will be the same as the pressure is the same between std and highflow.

Jerry and Dan Thanks for the information. I haven't spoke with anyone that knew about a flow adjustment for the high flow mulchers and the few high flow mulchers I have looked at all have three hydraulic connectors. My John Deere only has the two.
