Loose/Sloppy SuperBoom Linkage on high hour machines

I am currently running an LS185B with 5500 hrs. Using it on the farm. The boom is very sloppy and slaps the side of the cab, which is somewhat common on high hour NH machines. Has anyone tightened up a loose boom? I imagine its a matter of replacing all the boom bushings?? Maybe just the busings in the links from the cab to the boom would help?? Input?

Can you install nylon washers to take this play out? If you have a lathe, you can get a nylon rod and cut spacers to whatever size is needed.

Yes, it moves side to side. Not sure if the bushing diameters are worn allowing the boom to move due to the pin clearance, or it the faces of the bushings/pin are worn allowing movement...It appears that when the bucket moves from side to side all the links are rotating about their pivot point. In other words the back of the boom isn't moving side to side but all the links are rotating in their pivots point... Make sense?

Pin and bushing wear could cause this to happen, but i'd doubt that you'd have enough wear on the faces to be the only cause of the slop. Spacers to prevent side to side movement wouldn't hurt though.

My lx 665 does that also, I don't think the boom hits the cab but the links shift from side to side on the pins. It is annoying but not worn enough to replace the parts yet. Last year I wound heavy monofilament fishing line in the gap and that silenced it for a year, nylon washers would work the best though.

That is a good one, fishing line, never would have thought of it.
