My brother has a Bobcat 773 with rubber tracks installed on the wheels. Last weekend he was out using it to push over some dead trees on his property. Due to the snow he did not see a log/downed tree under the snow and thus high centered his machine and got stuck. He had a heck of a time getting off of it due to the snow and ice on or around the log and on the ground. After manuevering the bucket and rocking the machine for about a half hour he managed to get it off the hidden log. During this time he smelled rubber but thought it was the tracks possibly rubbing on the log. Once off of the log and able to move again the machine seemed to have lack power/torque while moving forward. To get out of the woods he had a small road grade ditch to climb and the bobcat would not pull itself up out of the slight incline. My brother had to back up a couple times and finally took run at it to climb it. The engine runs fine but something in the drive train is not right since being stuck. He stated while trying to climb the ditch side he was hearing a chattering type noise with the lack of power. Not knowing bobcats at all but doing a little research I am thinking either his drive belt is shot or possibly lost belt tension that runs the Hydrostatic pump (because of the rubber smell) or something to do with the chain/ sprockets which might be contributing to the chattering. Also thinking the chattering might be from not enough hydrastats once again maybe a belt issue? He has parked it since until I can take a look at it. On last thing he states the bucket hydraulic operation works fine. He said the hydraulic fluid level is good and no leaks. Looking for any input you may have for items that could be the cause?
