My Bro has came across an 843, it's missing the engine head. No back ground history on it. 4100 hrs on the meter. do they have a perkins engine? How is it conected to the hyd pumps? Engine sits frt to back.
Price is $800. Where can I get a used head? dennis

It will be joined to the pump with universal joints and a splined shaft. I believe it has a perkins or isuzu i think different years had different engines but not 100% sure on that.
I believe you will get a head for it, for that price you really can't pass it up! but the big question is, are there any other engine problems? head off you can get crud in and did a rod bend with the cracked head? (no doubt it was cracked, no other reason to remove it).

Like Tazza, hard to beat $800, although, I would even offer less. Heading over to richie brothers later this month, preview shows what could be a couple of really good deals?.

The ISUZU engine will have 4JB1 and the isuzu logo on the block. The Perkins has the familiar perkins logo on the engine as well. I would buy that 843 if it was nearby, even if as just parts for mine. They are direct coupled to the hydraulic parts, unlike later models with belt drive. You could also find another 4 cylinder diesel to cram in there, and you have no electronic nightmares to deal with.
