753 Bobcat skid steer. The lift functions are backward. When I push the toe of the pedal, the lift arms raise, when I push the heel down, they lower. The arms will also not go into float mode. I purchased this machine used. The previous owner said the lift worked that way since he purchased it a while back.

The fittings are different on each hose at the base of the cylinders. Don't know if they could be swapped at the other end of the hoses, where they connect to the hard lines is buried in the back of the machine. Not sure if you have to pull the engine to access them?

No idea about the engine. It sounds to me that something had to have been swapped at some point. Hope you can figure it out.

Here is a link to the parts catalog:
To me it looks like you are thinking correctly in that the hoses need to be swapped at the hard lines. It looks like those ends of the hoses are the same.

Another idea, if there is room, you could have some short hoses made as adapters to change the ends of the existing hoses. Or, on the same note, just find fittings for the ends of the hoses that would convert them to be swapped.

Thanks for that suggestion. I may try that if I can't access the hoses where they attached to the hard lines.

You should be able to swap the hoses over from outside of the top of the right lift arm pretty easily by undoing the retaining clamp(s) on the arm holding the hard tube to give yourself more wriggle room.

at some point the line to the cylinders has a T to go left and right, switch the lines there, trace the hoses from the cylinders, they will be rubber linesyou can switch where they terminate, I have to look at our 743 tomorrow

Yes there are tees. One is on the control valve and has hard lines that go the back of the frame on each side. The other tee is more towards the left side and also has hard lines that also go to the back of the frame. The flexible hoses connect to the hard lines way in the back in fairly inaccessible locations. Let me know if you see this differently on yours. I can post some pictures tomorrow if needed. Thanks for your help!

its -29C here this morning and still dealing with a dump of snow on the weekend, the machine is outside and snowed in however here is a picture from the manual, you could switch hoses on the cylinder ends note A if I recall its tight getting into that area we did it once to replace hoses, better at B this is inside the rear of the machine, trace the hoses from cylinders they will be each side for left and right cylinders

I recall having to fix the valves in our machine, relief was set wrong and had no lift force, we also rebuilt valve seals and a cracked steel line, not much room we made special wrenches from standard to get some of the fittings off.

The fittings at A at the base of the cylinders are different. May see if I can change them to make the swap work. At B, how did you access those? Thanks a million for your help. It's 70 in Texas!

, lift arms, block bucket and slowly retract cylinder till you can get to fittings, it takes 2 people
