Hello, I have a 2004 S130 with 4600 hrs. I has started leaking a fair bit of hydraulic oil which appears to be coming from the pintle seals. (I have come to this conclusion from reading other threads). There is fresh oil on the hydro pump and a pool around where the pintles attach to the pump. I have the repair manual which goes through what seems to be a fairly complicated procedure for re-centering all the steering components when things are dismantled and replaced etc. Two questions 1. Has anyone done this job on the S130 and was it all that difficult? 2. The manual says that you need a remote start to start the machine when the cover is raised. Is this necessary? or can it be started then lift the cover and then lower the safety bar so the controls work? With the wheels jacked up of course so it doesn't move. Thanks for any help.

It's not as complicated as it may seem. I have never used a remote start switch, i lower the seat bar, turn the key to start then adjust as required. The only potential issue is the lift lock will disengage, so you need to be careful.

If your steering is tight and not creeping then you should not have to worry about adjusting the steering when doing pintle seals because you will not be removing any of the parts that center the steering. When you remove the top steering plate, dont touch the steering bars attached to it and you should be fine.
