L555 w/ Kubota oil restrictor

I have an L555 with the Kubota V1902 with the typical cracked head. Been cracked for a long time but it finally got bad enough that I ordered a new head for it. When tearing it down, there was a small "pin" in a hole in the head under the front rocker shaft pedestal. The pin is hollow and has threads on one end and a screwdriver slot on the other end. It just pulled out of the hole in the head, not screwed into anything. The new head has the same hole and the pin just slides in, no threads. The IPL that I found on Messicks website calls it a screw but I can't find any function for it. Does anyone know if it just drops into the hole then bolt the rocker shaft pedestal on over it and it just floats around?

I don't know but I am guessing it was to plug a hole used for hole that connected with a couple other holes in the block. Usually when this is done the hole is plugged with a threaded plug
