I have just got a new Holland L555. When he dropped it off he said that when he raised the arm it squealed and sort of seamed like is was struggling. Also said when going down it didn't seam to have a problem. I myself haven't even moved the thing (haven't had the time) but I don't really want to do much until I figure it out. He thinks it might be from sitting. Is this true?

I wonder if it's just air in the system from a leaking hose or ram seal.

Is it low on oil? If it is air you should be able to work the cylinders until the air clears out
it might have to much oil in it could that cause it? if its air you are saying i could just work it out? by just operating it?

Over full won't do anything other thatn possible leaking out the vent on the tank.
If the issue is air, running the machine should purge it out.
Look around for any leaks at fittings or seals too.

If it squeals for you grease all the zerks on the boom and see If that helps.

A squeal sounds like a dry pin. My l555 sat for a long time. Almost 6 years. The old grease was caked and dry. I greased all the fittings that would take grease. The fittings that wouldn't I took them out and cleaned them out. I had three pins that would not take grease. I had to pull them and clean the hole in the pin. Now all of them take grease. Make sure the bucket and bucket cylinder pins get grease also. I used kerosene to clean the zerks and a small punch to work the ball till it was loose. Only had to replace one. Great machine. Good luck. Ron
