I've owned this machine for a few months now and it has always been hard to start. Always had to glow plug even in warmer weather. Decided to finally replace the original injectors. Did my best to keep everything clean. Noticed cylinder 1 had more soot buildup on the original injector than the others. Got the new injectors installed and bled. Started up fine and ran for a minute then started knocking. I shut it down right away and when I start it back up it runs fine for a few seconds before it knocks. It started smoking when it was knocking but I couldn't tell what color as it was dark out. My plan of attack is to loosen one injector line at a time and see if it goes away, narrowing down the injector. I'm I right in assuming a bad rod bearing or wrist pin would knock right away? I'm open to any suggestions you all have. Thanks

I agree with your plan as to the hard start have you tested your glow plugs and a compression test would not hurt either.

Do a comppresion check on it for the starting problem. Mine ad a bad iinjector and I took allof them and had them pressure checed. Replace the one bad one. It was still real hard to start . I did a compresion xcheckon it and it was really low. Pulled the engine and it took me 2 days to clean and remove the rings as they were all stuck n the pistons. I replaced all the glow plugs did not bother to sheck them as they are cheap Starts fine now

Thanks guys. Found out one of the new injectors was bad. Lesson learned on buying cheap amazon ones. Put one of the old ones back in and it runs fine now. Starts up faster than it was before so I'll run it as is for awhile. Has always had a rattle/chink sound at low idle so maybe I'll dig into it when I get a chance.

if it just has a low oil pressure light it would be a good idea to put in a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see how that looks when cold and after a good run. that will tell you if rattle and chink is something that needs to be looked at soon.
