Hello Everyone, Just got ahold of an l553. Was told the right hand side wheels won't move. A mechanic diagnosed this as being the hydraulic pump and removed the pump. Pump isn't rebuild able. This was all before i got it. So I received the l553 without the pump and am wondering if you guys would have any idea where I could get a part number/accurate picture of the hydraulic pump? From what I was told the pump is beneath the seat and I can see where it looks to have sat. Looks like 2 bolts, a female splined shaft input, and some hoses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.messicks.com/NH/49895.aspx Should get you to the lookup for the 553 then go down the list to (104) and the pump will be shown in the lookup.

My next question is where can I find a good working forward hydrostatic pump for the l553? These buggers are expensive.
Before you spend any money you better take the right hydro motor out and check it. If the pump was trashed chances are the motor is also trashed. To do the job right and to remove any debris in the system all hydrastat and hydraulic components need to be disassembled and cleaned.

As stated above the drive motor is of concern if the pump is bad. I have been able to fix numerous pumps to a usable state for very little money. Most were damaged by the drive motor coming apart. Now for most of the motors I have come across that self destructed it has been cheaper to buy a reman than try to fix. These components are expensive but are the heart of the unit. The L553s are getting old so parts will be far and few between. One place to try is All State Ag Parts they have several yards across the USA with a large supply of skid parts. You need to contact a representative for the best service. They list quite a bit online but they have way more in the warehouses. I have used them for years and always been pleased but they aren't always cheap.
