Hey everyone, I've been using this site over the years and it has been a great help. I'm having an issue now with my skid steer that has me at a lost....so much so I registered finally to post on here lol. I was running my L553 for 3 hours back on the farm and it was running great. On the drive back to the house, I have to go up and down the hills and hollers. Coming up the very last hill, it started to bog down and died right when I got to the top (thankfully). When i try to restart it, it will start, but immediately dies once i let off the key. My fuel level was low (why i was heading back) so I'm thinking I may have had trash in the bottom of the tank that got sucked in the line (?). The problem i have is my arms and bucket are down and I am limited to the small access holes in the the back to fit my arm through. Accessing things to work on thru that hole with one hand is not easy and is pretty much done by feel because my arm blocks my view. I was able to get the fuel line off at the filter (past the fuel pump) and turned the engine over. Fuel shot out of the fuel line like normal it seems. My next move is somehow getting the fuel filter off and replacing it. But, i have no idea how i'm going to get my one arm in there to take the filter off. Is there any suggestions to raising the bucket and arms on a dead skid steer or any thoughts on other possible problems before I attempt the seemingly impossible of getting the filter off through the access hole? If I do have a trash issue, how does the skid steer start up like normal and fully fire...and then immediately lose all power when I let go of the key??? Thanks for your time and any help you can give. -Chris

Since it starts, I'd be more inclined to think it's an electrical issue with the fuel cutoff solenoid. Either the hold coil got weak or has an iffy connection that won't allow it to hold. The starting circuit activates the pull coil, so it gets fuel until you let off the key then it closes again. That's where I'd start looking anyway.
