Bought used unit 2 months ago, been using it and noticed while coming up out of a hole, unit would slow down, so I would have to let off and let engine catch up or hydraulics. Unit is still doing this but has enough power to function. Boom seems to have enough power to pick up just fine. Bucket tilts fine. This week while operating for 45 min., the boom no longer operates or tilts I shut the machine off and pulled the seat out and the hydraulic lines were hot to the touch and there is a sllight leak on the right side driver motor. I shut the machine off, came back next day, cranked it up, boom and bucket operating fine for 30-45 min., then boom and bucket shut down again. Need help from anyone who might know what the issue may be. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Totally normal to have to ease up on the sticks while driving up hills or plowing into a pile of dirt. Your hydrostatic drive has the most power at lower speeds.
Its also normal for the hydraulic lines to be hot to the touch, the oil cooler is there to keep the oil temperature down. How old is your machine? all i can think is you may have a safety device dtoping the arms form working, like a seat or seat bar sensor. Older machines do not have this but newer ones do. It could also be a problem with yout hydraulic pump, as the machin gets hot the oil thins out. As the oil gets thin if the pump is worn you get more internal leakage, this will cause low oil pressure and can do what you describe.
Your drive and hydraulics are different pumps, you can have a drive problem and your hydraulics work fine or you can have a hydraulic problem and your drive works fine.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I dont know the year model. It has around 2800 hrs on it.also when going up hill it really seems to have a power problem. I was planning on checking compression. and then taking the injector pump and injectors to a shop that can test them. Today I cranked it up for a third time and could lift the boom only two feet before it stopped. When pressing on the foot pedals to raise the boom it feels like its pumping but cant raise or lower or tilt . Also to raise the boom the two feet I had the pedal for raisng the boom pressed down the opposite direction for raising it really strange Thought this might help for someone to help me diagnosis. Also the boom and bucket seemed to have enough power right before this happened. I really appreciate your reply and anyone else who can maybe help.

It really does sound like a safety device is preventing you lifitng the arms, does the bucket still tilt? and does it have power?
Whats the exhaust like? does it blow a lot of smoke?

it did tilt every time untill the boom and tilt both quit working at the same time.it seem to have enogh power. well I had a mechanic friend look at the smoke and he said it didnt look that bad but i dont agree with that i thinks its smoking more than norm and think maybe the rings are worn out it seems to smoke a little more after operating for a few minutes and it seemed to be slightly white in color. Im a body man have my on collision shop and am pretty mechanicle when not so stressed from the business and i think I can repair this thing with a little help. So frustrating because I dont have a clue about hydraulics Thanks for the pointers

yes it does seem to be excessive smoke while operating I purchased a diesel compression tester

If the safety is locked the peddles will feel locked. There are two solenoid that lock the valves in the main control block. If you pull the matal plate down by your feet you can check to see if they are opening. You should be able to sit in the seat with that plate off and start it and look down and see if their working. You can jump 12 volts to the solenoids to verify if their opening. REMEMBER THIS WILL RELEASE YOUR BOOM IF ITS UP AND YOU JUMP THEM WITH 12 VOLTS AND MOVE THE PEDDLES. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU LOCK THE BOOM UP WITH THE PINS.This interlock system involves your seat belt switch and pressure switches under the seat. Check them for problems.
if the solenoids are working your problem is probably hudraulic

Im not sure what year this machine is. It could be to old to have the same safety sytem I described.?? There should still be a safety interlock system. Mike

thanks Ill have to wait till tomorrow and start checking Ill get back to you again thanks

checked one safety solenoid. it had power coming to it and when i jumped it I could here it operating.I tried to call the local dealer and could not find out year model , they were busy. But the owner of the place picked up the phone he is a really nice and helpful older gentleman. I was describing to him about being able to make the boom creep up by pushing the pedal down, which would normally lower the boom, it raised it.He said to look for maybe a bad o ring in the control valve assembly. So I went ahead and dropped the lower pan and fuel tank.Wow what a mess . I have a steam high pressure washer and am trying to get it clean before I break the hydraulic system. Trying not to contaminate the system .What do you think about this? I know the serial# it begins with 83 ends with 92 does anyone know how to decipher this to figure out the year? Once again I appreciate greatly the help and direction.

The o-ring he is talking about will be below your feet in the same unit that has the solenoids.
There is nothing back by the tanks that affect your boom. Mike

By the way your not hurting anything by dropping the tank and cleaning clean your oil cooler while your there. they get pluged with dirt bad. that will help your hydros run cooler.I think your loader is from the early 90s . Mike

I am also planning on taking radiator out and having it tested or replacing. To get to the valve assembly on this unit you half to drop tank. Are there two solenoids on this unit? After I took tank out , above the valve assembly is another solenoid looking unit. but this one is all steel and looks different from the one that I think is the solenoid assembly. The one Ichecked is on the right hand side of the machine if your sitting in the cab. Also how do you get the air out the system once you break it and put it back together? Are the 0 rings standard black 0 rings. Thanks again for all that are posting and trying to help.

I also have another question. What about pressure in the system I have the boom up and resting on the boom lock pins.Is it safe to break the system or will there be high pressure still in the system?

There will be some pressure, but only until the boom settles down on the rest. Just looses a fitting and let the oil escape. If your working on the system anywhere on the pump side of the control valve there should be no pressure.

The control block that controls the boom lift and bucket tilt is what I was talking about. If you follow the linkage from your foot peddels to the control block there are two solenoids that lock the valves. Your machine could be different.
I believe thats where the owner of the dealerhip was suggeting you may have a bad o-ring. They should sell a kit to rebuild the unit.
It sounds like your on the right track. Mike

That other solenoid you spoke about could be your safety lock out, follow the lines.Thats if theyre not on the control block
