2014 L225 Tier IV Last week I was working clearing brush and the engine started sputtering and then died. It said “AUX FAIL”. If I let it sit for a few minutes, it would start again but do the same thing after 30 seconds or up to a few minutes. Dealership recommended replacing the prefilter. Did that and bled the air out. Worked it today for the first time since. After about 30-45 minutes, it did the same thing. This time it also had a full tank of fuel. Before it died, it posted code 3293 (Common Rail Pressure Exceeds Upper Limit). I didn’t notice this code last week when it did this but may have missed it since it just says AUX FAIL after it dies. When it happens, it seems like it running out of fuel but can’t figure out what is going on so I’m hoping a guru on here can point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are lucky enough that the loader was sold in 2015, you may have some warranty left. The emission equipment is warranted for 5 years or 3000 hrs. Check with your dealer. While you may have a mechanical issue, it is more likely the engine harness is shorted somewhere. Look at harness between the engine controller and where the harness connects at the top of the engine, especially around the air cond compressor is so equipped. The harness connects to a plastic housing on the top of the engine. Inside the plastic housing the small wires can rub against each and will cause different fault codes to appear. While you see one fault there may be several others that can only be accessed by your dealer,s computer.

You are right in that the wiring harness are trouble but we fortunately already has that replaced under warranty. Turned out I not only had to replace the prefilter but also the main fuel filter. Odd that it needed it before regular sequence. Thanks for the feedback.
