I run a small construction business and use a 751 Bobcat for support equipment. I've had it for years. Yesterday at work I was spreading rock and my machine was chugging along like it always does. At the drop of a hat it started sputtering and could barely stay running so I shut it down. Afterward I could not get it started again. After work I did some Google searching and found this forum. I read through some threads that described similar issues. This morning I decided to replace the fuel filter thinking it would be a good place to start. I filled the new filter with diesel and screwed it back on. I was actually able to get it primed enough to start back up after some grinding. It ran for about 10 minutes and died. Afterward I tried priming again but was getting nothing but air. I had read here in the forums about the pick up tube cracking or falling off all together. I raised the cab up and was able to find the pick up tube. I pulled the grommet and all that was attached was a remnant of what was once a long hose. So thanks for the information that I found by searching the forums. I'm assuming this is my issue. Can I just buy a regular diesel rated hose at the auto parts store? Or should I go to my local Bobcat store and get a factory hose? I assume there was probably some sort of screen on the other end of the broken off hose? Is it going to be an issue having that hose floating around in my fuel tank? Thanks again everyone!

There should be a screen thing on the end of the line, there is a parts book for the 751 in the manual thread that has all the parts listed.
The only problem I can see is that it might snag the fuel sender and give false readings; if you can reach in with one of those long claw grabbers and fish for it you'll not only avoid that problem but retrieve the screen end for your new hose.

There is indeed a screen on the end, it has a one way valve in it to assist in priming, it's a good idea to install another one as it keeps any trash in the fuel tank out of the main filter.
Plain 'ol diesel rated hose will work just fine, i have done it before.
