Hi All,

New guy here from Bethel VT. Just bought a 1981 JD L125L skid loader. Serial #190100M. The main hydraulic gear pump was disassembled and needs a new seal kit. Ordered the correct seal kit according to JD's parts breakdown, but it was not right. The parts breakdown on JD's page looks almost identical to the actual pump, but slightly different. Figure that the pump was probably replaced at some point.

The pump on there is a dual tandem Eaton 29000. Found a part number for a seal kit for it but, even if I could find one, they're $400???.

One set of the rubber gasket and Teflon(?) Gasket stiffener is intact. At this point I'm thinking about using high temp silicon gasket maker and cutting a piece of Teflon. Have doubts, though.

Anyone have any ideas that don't include spending $1800 for a new pump?

You can try to source out the individual parts on your own. Either look at detail pictures of the parts in the $400 kit and try to figure it out, or take apart your pump and look at the existing parts and to try to find a replacement.
