Last year I replaced the left rear idler roller (big one under the drive motor. The bearing was leaking. 80 hours later and the bearing on the replacement is leaking. Bought from PartsAsap. Previously I replaced the tracks and sprockets on both sides. I run the tracks loose to reduce wear on undercarriage. Used for hay and dirt work on farm.

Before I put another one on, is there something I should check that would cause this? Thank you.

Sounds like it's worth checking the track tension and alignment before replacing it again. If those are fine, I'd suspect the bearing quality. I sometimes look at Boom & Bucket forums to compare undercarriage configurations on similar machines.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have a mechanic coming next week to do the swap this time. I will let you know if he finds anything.

Mechanic swapped parts yesterday. He visually could not see a reason for the failure. His suspicion was hay twine getting into the bearings. None was found. Fingers crossed an original John Deere product will outlast the 80 hours I got from Parts ASAP.’s roller.
