JD 260 sticky control valve

I have a 2000 model JD 260, the boom pedal in the down position, sticks in the down position instead of being "spring loaded". Linkage is loose and lubricated, I think the spool rod has a slight bend causing the problem. Can't seem to buy valve components, JD wants to sell you $4,000 valve assembly. Any ideas? Can I remove the rod with valve in the machine and straighten it? Thanks

I'd start by removing the cap on the control block where the spring is, see if everything is free to move in there. I'd doubt the rod is bent.
You can also try rotating the spool rod 180 degrees to see if it slides better.
