Is this a fair Bobcat service invoice?

Well, everything "Made in America" is more expensive no matter what.
But on the other Hand, you pay also for better Material, Design, etc. China tends to just "steal" ideas and produce the product then way cheaper. With cheaper material and so on.
It is true that things are more when built in the USA. But as you said, the quality is there also. I rather pay more than and do it right and have it last. Today you buy from China and things don't last. How long does it take for people to realize it's all of us working together to make this country what it is. Or bring it back to the old days. Yet, the greed of some places is there and you know how to beat that right. Don't go there for parts.

Speaking of

Times sure have changed, and not necessarily for the better overall. So where did you get those Links sir? I will be working on a axle seal on my M610 in the near future. Speaking of which does anyone know a reasonable outlet to get the Cork gaskets for the side inspection plates?
Go to Amazon for the gaskets and use silicone on both sides of it to hold it in place and help the sealing of that plate.

That is nothing compared to caterpillar. We had and thing done on a D7... $7K. $340/hrs travel time, $5K in fluids and parts...

Dealers are thieves.

You definitely want to do the work yourself if possible.

I might add do your research. I have run across many Made in American / Made in Canada dealer labeled boxes which were actually Chinese manufactured products inside.
You will spot these more frequently & easily on the electrical side. Ie. Relays 3x the price. Alternators (buyers beware) AC compressors, etc.

I have learned to ALWAYS search a part number on Amazon and see what turns up. Recent savings for Jeep diesel, one relay $37 dealer, 4/$9.99 Am. Def fluid cap. $76 dealer, billet diesel cap & def cap $9.99 Am.

I can only speak to what my CAT dealer charges. 4 hours minimum at $300 per hour if I bring the unit in. If they come to my site, I believe there is an additional one time charge of $500 for travel and $350 per hour with a 4 hour minim charge again. I live about 7 miles from the dealership. This is why I service my own machine as well.

I had to have Genie come out because of a software issue on their side on my tele handler. It was a calibration between the throttle and the engine that had to be performed. They acted like they were going to cover the cost because they sold me the new motor. It took them 15 minutes and they gave me a bill for $1800. I refused and they left and then told me they would spilt the cost and charged me $900. Just ridiculous.

this is more or less the amin reason why I learned to maintain my equipment. I was never trying to be cheap but quotes are incrediblly insane. It can be a mess but with the right tools and some patience I believe anyone that knows how to hold a tool can do it

The greatest tool we have today is an internet with forums such as this. An absolute Godsend.

yeah but the problem with buying SO called OEM parts off Amazon and eBay and sadly many other places is
many of them are counterfeit products being sold as OEM or brand name

they come in same like packing have same like markings and such, but there Not real OEM products

and that is why there so much cheaper than OEM parts

there are tons of videos and like showing how there sold to look like original brand name products
so like most things in life, when deals are too good to be true, most times they are fakes!

and also consider, the risks on engine parts, a NEW engine is a lot of $$$ to save a few dollars on a filter or like part
sucks paying higher prices,(and yes dealer way over charge parts, BUT there are reputable online stores that sell legit parts cheaper than dealers,, if one is willing to do there homework, but AMAZON is not really one I would trust)

but in the bigger picture, quality matters in many things saving a few dollars that could cost you thousands, has to be a personal choice!

Watch some YouTube videos, get the parts on Amazon , follow the service intervals on the back door or manual.
A cheap tool set and some filter wrenches go a long way .
At least you won't be charged for rags and environmental garbage 🤷
