Intermittent Hand Control on left side

We have a S590 with hand and foot controls a while back the hand controls stopped working. We found a wire that was broken on the left control and repaired it. Recently the left hand controls started working intermittently, the right one works fine. Wiggling the control seems to make it work again. It is kind of like the computer can’t sense the position of the levers. Any. Ideas where to start would be greatly appreciated.
