Hi I have an old 963 G been using for about 10 years as a ranch tractor and I really like it. Problem is leaks everywhere and it is extremely dirty and greasy. Now looking at Bobcat s850's and Cat 272D's. My question is should I go totally clean tier 4 or tier 3 so I don't need to mess with emissions. Part of me says maybe it would be worth is so I don't breath in the pollution. Are emissions a pain or no big deal?

We don't have emission BS here (yet) i'd rather go the older style, as parts would be easier and cheaper to get.

IMHO, Tier 4, and even Tier 3 are abominations that probably have Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel rolling in his underwater grave. My experience has been that "a pain" is a very understated definition of the problems caused by (so-called) emission control devices.

I would avoid emissions stuff if possible just to eliminate possible problems.
