A while back there was a guy on this site that put a V8 in a 853 , that looks like 700 on the side , have never heard of that one , I would think that a hot 4 cylinder motor out of a Honda or a Toyota would be a good canadate for a replacement motor , I wouldn't want to have to work on the v8 in the machine , you would probally have to pull the engine it to do about anything , heard what the guy said , " he had enough , his lost " , Road Warrior

I got a reply.........

I sent your message to my husband and he laughed. He said, " If it had that size engine we could race it in Commerce", Our 55 Chevy has a 350 engine not the bobcat.

Thanks for emailing. I guess I will get my facts together before I post an ad for my husband again. My husband is still laughing.

Yes, I feel retarded.

Merry Christmas

It's not all that far-fetched. Back about 25 years ago my buddy had a old Bobcat that had a blown 4-cylinder Ford engine in it. He had a V-6 Ford from a Capri/Mustang and put it in. He had to do some fairly extensive modifications to rear of the machine and used the radiator from the Capri. The guy that bought it was ecstatic he had V-6 power though!

Not even close to a joke...but very funny to see! A good friend of mine had an 8?? a couple of years ago that had bad motor when he bought it. A welded up cradle and creative coupler to the pump had a 350 out of a pick-up up and running in a few hours. The added weight from the engine made up for the fact that the door had to be removed. The cooling system was moved around and worked out for limited use and the only real issue was carbuerator bounce. Maybe a late model injected hot rod would be the cure! It was great with open exaust and slick tires....he has a small salvage/ scrap buisiness and this machine was very useful and entertaining. I wish I had been into these macines at the time and paid more attention to the details but I DID try to buy it a couple of times! A little creativity will outrun a check book when you don't have to earn a living at it (fun too). JEFF
