HI all, problem after problem.. Got a 1995? 763, and today i was using it on a pretty steep hill, with bucket facing downward. For some reason when it gets to a certain steepness, i can no longer lift or curl, but the the hydrostatic drive still works. Pretty scary today when i scooped up a bunch dirt and could not move my bucket at all as i got further down the hill. It is defintitely related to the steepness, i can recreated the problem everytime if the hill is steep enough. What could be causing this??? Any ideas??? im only about halfway done on this hill and i really dont want to get back on it before getting this problem worked out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

After some reading, im thinking maybe it is the seat sensor?? Seems like the same symptoms..... What do you guys think?

Thats may be possible, with the loader in operational mode, lift you butt off the seat and see if the lift and tilt locks. I think it should also release the park pin/brake, locking your wheels up too, but you can do that simple test to see.
The hyd pump should not be able to suck air without the wheel motor/drives acting up too.

I agree that it's probably not an oil starvation issue, but electrical. 1995 or so, could be an F- or a G-series machine? I thought also if you come off the seat sensor, the brake also locks up. Is the seat bar raising? Are you strapped in to keep your wieght off the seat bar and pushing it up and forward?

I was strapped in pretty good, and pretty sure the seat bar was not raising (at that angle, if anything, i think i would be pushing it down even further, not up ? ) I'll see what happens when i am on flat ground and raise off the seat. Sure hope this is a simple problem.

Some things that come to mind , low oil in hydraulic tank , older style machine with a seat sensor that is breaking the connection or shorting out on incline , wiring to the stem coil shorting out on an angle , is your BICS controller on the left dash or on the right side of the seat , and if on side the seat is the first light seat or seat bar

Oil level is good. The BICS controller is on the right side of the seat. I am not sure what the first light is, ill have to take a look at that. I have never even looked at those lights, so if it is the seat sensor, then i should be able to tell by looking at the BICS controller? I have not had time yet to check anything and prolly wont have a chance till tommorow. Where is the stem coil at so i can trace that wire? Thanks for all the help and suggestions, i really appreciate it.

well as it turns out im and idiot :), wonder how much its gonna be to fix that. I tried raising off the seat on flat ground and it was the same problem , i could move but not tilt or lift. So i went down the hill and noticed i was leaning pretty far foward. I looked over and the seat sensor light went off. I tightened up my seat belt pretty tight and problem went away. Wish all fixes were this easy. Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys!

You're in a very large club of folks who are anything but idiots!=)
The seat sensor system is so lame and had so many problems that Bobcat offers a kit to by-pass it, easy to install and if I remember about $200 or so. A new controller and a “Push-to-Operate” button in place of the “Traction Lock Override” button, and disconnet the seat switch.
Well worth eliminating the aggravation of the machine locking up at odd times.

You can permanently by pass the seat sensor for the cost of a hose clamp , if you remove the sensor from the bottom of the seat support( the cab) , turn on the ignition , dro the seat bar and hit put the sensor in a position that makes the light on the BICS box light up then wrap the clamp around the sensor and tighten down , strap the assembly up with tie straps
