ok, my left tilt cylinder just started squeaking like crazy, very loud high pitch squeak, when I have it at about half to full tilt started out of the blue, worked fine, was parked for about 6-7 weeks, and then started squeaking? a buddy told me to just add some of this CAT's Anti-Chatter hydraulic oil additive, but I think my system has just 30 weight oil in it, so NOT sure if that would mix right or not> anyone know if I can add this or?? something else to stop the squeak? and or what is causing it to happen like this? NO leaks on cylinder or any lines, fluid level is exact same, just above the full mark! I am NO MR fix it, so any info would be appreciated!

Have you greased the mounting pins? I never had one squeak but had one that was dry. Had to take it out and clean out the hole so grease could get to inside the bushing. Check the pins first. Never heard of cylinder squeaking. Good luck.

As the internals are filled with oil, there really should never be a squeak from the moving parts inside the cylinder, I'd suspect the pivot points as deaop06 did.
The only time i have had squeaky clinders is when the rods are bent, causing it to bind up internally.

ok, sorry on delay, parents were in a car crash, and had me busy with them as for pins and pivot joints, I have greased them, and even sprayed them with penetrating oil , many times and still have squeak at about 1/2 to full tilt and back to 1/2 way? ONLY at that . I found a guy that works on equipment for a living, that is supposed to come over when he has time and said he will find the issue? so for now I am waiting on him to get here. I will update with what he finds

ok just a follow up here to close things out I had both cylinders rebuilt, I re[placed all bushings and pin's on the tilt cylinder and attachment plate and the squeaking we think was coming from the slop in the bushing causing the lower bushing to twist a little when I was lowering the tilt cylinder, as it was NOT welded in and you could see how it was being worn? NOT sure why it JUST started when it did, maybe just enough slop in things to allow to twist but all things are good now, nice and tight too LOL

Glad it's fixed. Any squeak means you will be getting wear, best to get that fixed sooner than later when things are too worn to repair.

yeah I agree its always better to fix before it brows into a bigger issue's, I always try and stay on top of things, but with my health and not being able to work on so many things anymore, I am at the mercy of getting help in, and it took me a LONG time to track down a person that would come and work on things, the first 3 guys I talked to all gave me the line, be there in 2-3 weeks, then never showed up, try again, never show up, and repeat,. started TRYING to find help in April, and took till now for any of them to get here but guy I had help me now, seems much more reliable and wanting work, and rather experienced repair guy too! SO very happy to have him now for help when needed!
