Just had my 743 serviced and axel bearings replaced 31 days ago ( the length of warranty on service I naturly 30 days! ) just to discover that when you try to raise the bucket nothing happens unless you put a little pressure on the curl of the bucket at the same time. Curl works fine both ways on bucket. It's just the bucket lift that does not work at all untill you add a small amount of curl pressure to it as your trying to raise the bucket! Anyone got any ideas on what my problem is?

The work done to your machine would have nothing to with your problem. I would check pump output and pressures. Not that I think it is the problem, are the aux hydraulics on?

I second that. Pull the right stick all the way to the left and let it spring back. See if it works afterwards.
I had very high hopes of you guys being right as I do have aux hydraulics but have never used them. I didn't even know how to turn them on or off. well the story is thats not it. I just got done trying to get it to work and yet you still have to engage the bucket curl a slight amount to get it to raise.Im a machininst and only a shade tree mechanic so if anyone of you have anymore ideas i'm all ears. BTW thanks for your help folks as this is just a useful toy for myself and best friend but at this time i do need it or im gonna have to hire the work. when i pulled the stick to the left and then engauge the lift you could hear something happying but still no bucket raise.

I guess it always possible the spring in the control block has broken causing it to not come back to centre.....
Are the pedals free to move? they are smooth and not binding at all?

There is a port relief vavle for the lift, maybe that is bleeding off. The control vavle is an open center design, oil flows threw it all the time. The oil has to be bypassing some how and by using tilt, you are building enough pressure to raise it. Does the boom settle? Maybe a lift cylinder seal is blown off?

Not sure about any spring, however the pedals do seem to be normal to me.

Not sure about port relief valve either so I think I'll just take it back to the shop that worked on it last as I don't want to make things worse with my lack of knowledge about the hydro system on here. Thanks for you time and help guys and I'll let you know what I find out so you may be able to help someone else another day .

pull chain case plug and see if overfull.. this would account for axle seals as well.
