In a 743 10w 30 motor oil can be used and it won't hurt anything. SAE 40 maybe a little on the thick side and I have no idea what additives are in it. I doubt anything would happen, other then it may make the machine labor a little. This is a question I get a lot, what oil can I run in my bobcat. Bobcat only recomands their hydraulic/ hydrostatic and nothing eles. They use to say in emgency you could use 10w 30, but have gotten away from that. Bobcat would release what weight the oil is, but I have heard it is close to a 20 weight. When people call, I tell them to look for something that says hydrostatic on it and perferably without wet brake additives. We sell our fluid in 2 1/2 gallon jugs for $30, this is the abouslte cheapest we can go in tring to be competive.
