How's life?

Help Support SkidSteer Forum:

Good here, thanks for asking.

Just worked my machine over 200 hours grubbing mesquite trees and returning to my place to continue mulching fire breaks and cleaning up under big trees with vines and saplings. Very happy to have a cab and AC with the heat and mosquitoes in Central Texas. Getting spoiled.

I'm doing ok.
Still making small square bales of hay for horses, but down to about 3 thousand a year from the 15,000 I use to make.
After 32 years on this farm we are working on downsizing.
I am getting too old to be doing as much as I do. The sooner I can get a 5 or 10 acre low maintenance place the longer I will live.

I am mostly done reclearing our property in the mountains, which is why I bought the machine in 2010. I am now using it to rebuild the cabin on the property from the arson fire in 1991. This has been a very long time in coming together, with the road washing out 18 years ago and finally getting fixed last year. I have more than 400 hours on the skid steer reclearing the property. After following this forum since I joined, I am very glad that I have a Thomas and not another brand. This machine was very well engineered with many adjustable systems, that other machines do not have. Be safe everyone!

Been doing well. Just replaced what was left of the pedal bushings in my 732; they were so far gone I could barely tell they were here at all. Sure tightened up the pedal action.

Big update for my 310 rebuild. I have her all back together. Found a leak on one of my hard hydraulic lines. Hab to make a new one. Took her for a trip around the shop. I just finished some tuning and adjusting. Going out today for some more testing. Almost finished. This was a complete disassemble, strip, paint, rebuild subassemblies, and then reassembly

I still have my New Holland LX885, so I still need you guys! I've had an issue with the lift and tilt not working intermittently. Sometimes its the tilt sometimes its the lift. I'm thinking its a problem with the seatbelt safety switch. Unclipping it then re fastening seems to correct it, but not sure why it would effect one side then the other. I'll post the issue if it continues.
Also, if someone knows of a good source for pulley wheels let me know. I have a new alternator requiring a different bore hole diameter and can't find the right one.

Much travel in recent months. I need time at home so I can dig into my 864 aux hyd, which only flows in one direction even after massive repair costs at the local dealer. Yesterday I put on the skidpro mower and cut a few acres of weeds high and thick. Sweet.

Still working on all the equipment to keep sane or be slowly driven Insane by working on it - one of the two
Hope you guys are well!
