So with the short piece of the key in the lock NOTHING will fit the lock except a key that has been shortened to fit!! Not even a factory key!!! But your new "shorty" key will!! This won't stop a thief who has a lot of time but it will confuse the crap out of someone who thinks he can go to a dealer (or Ebay!) and buy an el-stocko key for any Holland loader!!!
Saw your post and thought I'd throw this at everyone reading it. I buy and sell this stuff and because the manufacturers do NOTHING to prevent theft, by their stupid non-sequence cutting of ignition keys, I came up with a good idea. MEASURE TWICE - CUT ONCE!!! Let's say you have 2 new keys that fit the machine. After tracing the key out on on a piece of paper, cut off an 1/8th inch or so of the tip of the key. Then, using a pair of needle nose pliers or a tweezer, insert that small piece into the ignition switch!! Now cut the other key, but figure in the length of whatever you used to cut the other key off with, so the key lines up with the tumblers in the lock. Got it? So with the short piece of the key in the lock NOTHING will fit the lock except a key that has been shortened to fit!! Not even a factory key!!! But your new "shorty" key will!! This won't stop a thief who has a lot of time but it will confuse the crap out of someone who thinks he can go to a dealer (or Ebay!) and buy an el-stocko key for any Holland loader!!!
