Another Canuck.
Decided I'm spending too much at my local rent-all. While I love the shiny and well maintained equipment, the cost adds up, not to mention the stress of trying to get a job done without going into more rental days than I estimated.
Just got a 743 + 909 backhoe + bucket + (new) Bucket Bite toothbar. 1986 model. Hour meter says 2753.7...and has for some (unknown) time...
Showed up on the flatbed last night. And 2 minutes later the girlfriend came home...“Tell me you didn't just buy a Bobcat.“ It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission...
Runs fine, but needs a few things done. Hour meter, bobtach pin on one side, engine door latch, reconnect the wire for the heater motor. And all fluids/filters, of course.
I'm sure my local Bobcat dealer will get to know me over the next while. Now I just need to find out what's the magic way to stop paying list price. Although $130 for all the filters (inner/outer air, oil, fuel, hydraulic) didn't seem too bad; cheaper than the local Napa.
Have 2 things to contribute:
1. I did get (most of) the 909 backhoe parts list and scanned it in. How can I upload the .pdf?
2. Got a few good contacts for equipment movers in the Toronto/southern Ontario region that are extremely reasonable. Cheaper than me renting a pickup and trailer.

I hope when the GF asked, you said uum no? or well..........
You'll love the machine, its old but they are a popular machine. Simple to keep going, parts are still available too. The filter price from the delaer is pretty good as they are fast turn over parts. The more obsure the part, the more they can and will charge.
Hopefully your repairs won't run you too much.

I don't keep track of the inventory in her closet and she pays no mind to the yard anymore Not sure who is ahead but she knows my purchases pay me back. Yours will too and you came to the right place to learn how to save a buck doing it.

So, let's start. What Bobcat dealer sells parts less than list, (when you're not a big customer)?
I don't pay list for car parts from any dealer; everybody will always give 10 or 15% when you ask. Can't see why this would be that different.
Time to start calling around...

I used to get 15% off my local dealer, but they soon decided that they are genuine parts, we don't need to discount them, so i stopped dealing with them.
You should call around, they are generally franchise businesses, so the prices will not always be the same. You need one that had goo dprices and good service, both do not always go together.
The other dealer i had a good friend at, had a change in management, i don't deal with them anymore.

Calling around pays, especially if you need very much.
I needed a lower pin from the arm to the bobtach on a 753. Local $37.00 dealer 100 miles away $25 So I ordered it with a few more items i needed more then covered the freight.
However today I took it apart and the one on the other side is broke too, so I was happy to pay the extra 12 to get one locally, Depends on how much you need
Bobcat dealers have the freedom to set their own pricing and some like to make more then others. Thats the bottom line .
