does the gear on the common rail injector pump have to be timed? I can't find any drawings that show if the gear drives any thing else that might need timed with it.
I read an old tread and comments were yes then no. Not a Kabota. It is a Doosan 2.4 in a Bobcat T590 skid steer. tia

The HP pump Gear does not have to be timed. You can time it but it is only for the perfect adjustment. You will not feel it if it's not timed.
When it is timed it always makes sure that max. pressure is at the Rail when the Injector are firing. But how I said, you can see that only if you hook up the computer.

To Time it, there is two notches on the gear from the HP pump. Then there is other notch on the HP pump which this needs to be lined up.
Then you turn the Crankshaft Pulley and there is a little Notch on that Pulley too which needs to be lined up which a little mark on the Drive Chain Cover.
If you have a picture of the HP Pump and Gear, I can point it out to me.

Thanks, I will pull the old one being careful not to rotate it and match where it is when I put the new one in. should be able to keep it within a notch or two.
Will bring it up tdc.
I have to rebuild this motor next winter so will get it right on when I do that.
Trying not to have to pull the timing cover for now.

Why to rebuilding the Engine?
Just a warning, the Delphi Fuel System is very delicate.
