Hello, I’ve been trying to remove the variable speed pulleys on a bobcat 610. I have the outer pulled off, have removed the medium and large snap ring (large one came out in pieces), but I cannot seem to pry out the center piston section. I have tried two crow bars like the manual shows after putting the large washer back on, but the brass ring in the inside seems to catch on the pulley spline. I have tried heat, tapping, prying, etc. the brass ring will move inward about 1/18” but won’t come all the way out. Thanks

To clarify, I think it is the brass gland that I can't seem to pry thru the snap ring slot inside the shaft. I have tried emery cloth to remove any burs, but it won't budge to come out. I still have the smallest snap ring in place, since it appears from all the other threads that this one should not be removed.

If you don't get an answer here try the facebook group for old melroe bobcats.

WOW! after beating and beating on the piston assembly with pry bars and hammers with no success I finally went up and rented a slide hammer and pulley, and it came out on the third fairly easy hit with the slide hammer. I should have listened to advice from the other posts first I guess.
