I have a 96 modeld 853 and what i have read the fuel pickup lines are a common problem. But I have this thing in shop and the line runs right behind motor. Heck how do you access this to change it? I cant even get a hand back there let alone change it.. Can this be done without removing the engine?

It can be done without removing the engine if you are flexible enough.... I usually pry the old one up with a long screwdriver reaching under the pumps...make sure you're working on the pick-up and not the return, and always use a new grommet when reassembling with the new hose and screen.
