Heater control valve

Anyone change a heater control valve? The one on my new (used ) 773g appears to be bad.. I assume it is just turned open and let there.. It did have heat so it has to be open.. Is there any reason to change it or just leave it turned open? I wonder if these fail alot.. The seem like they might not last long.. Any thoughts..
 
The heating radiator can also be heated by the other hose without a valve.You can leave it like this, I do not believe there is a leak, but in the hot days you will not enjoy working. These valves are often remain blocked open or closed, but very rarely leaks from it. Change it or not - your choice
