Hi, I’m replacing my head gasket in my 2007 new holland l185. Doing most of the work my self with some guidance of a friend and a few other friends with more mechanical knowledge. I’m wondering while I have the head off and every thing a part is there things I should replace while I’m in there? Planning on replacing any other gaskets… valve cover gaskets , all the ones on exhaust and turbo.

Would it be smart to replace injectors?

My buddy suggested the head bolts
Cuz they could stretch?

Moneys kind of tight but obviously if its
Smarter to do now if it doesn’t cost a fortune I’d rather.

Appreciate any advice!

Your buddy is right about the head bolt. Reusing them risks uneven clamping and another blown gasket down the road. While the head is off, take it to a machine shop and have it checked for flatness and resurfaced if needed. A warped head is often what causes the gasket to blow in the first place, so skipping this step could mean repeating the whole job again soon. Replace the thermostat while you're in there. It's cheap and a common failure part on these machines.

If the budget allows, you can replace the valve stem seals since you've already got the head off. Remember to inspect the water pump. If it shows any signs of wear or has a lot of hours on it, it's time to consider replacing it with a quality water pump. On the injectors, honestly, I'd hold off unless the engine is running rough, blowing black smoke, or has very high hours.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to a machine shop and they said the head has a small crack in it between the seats and recommended finding a refurbished one. Sucks budget is definitely low, do you have any recommendations on where to find one?
