I think my 4 cylinder 1.6 ford is going to be trashed once I get it pulled. previous owner split the crankshaft pulley trying to break it loose and I have been trying for a month on the flywheel. my guess is it is solid rust in bores. What engine can replace it that is a common replacement as the old 4 is hard to find? I was told I need the flywheel on the engine though so guess that makes it harder.
have a hydra mac but understand bobcat used same 4 cylinder ford.. replacement?

Takes a good 12 point 3/8 inch socket on the flywheel bolts. Use a Cam type impact tool that you hit w/ a hammer. If you decide to junk the motor I would like to buy the Distributor. Let me know on this forum or PM if it comes available. -Dick
will keep that in mind- 12 point socket on flywheel bolts.. to break loose? right now engine still in skid- waiting for warmer weather
I meant to say: i've been trying for month on flywheel 'teeth' with pry bar as engine still mounted with starter removed.. cylinders have had several mixes put in for soaking. wouldn't mind buying differant type of engine more readly avaiable but needs to be close to a straight forward drop in and uses flywheel but don't know what that would be.

Early 70's ford pinto 1.6 or mercury capri 1.6 of same years is a direct bolt in, as far as the long block goes. Intake will be different and probably distributor. But, all your parts will bolt to it. Same goes for rebuild kits.
I used a 1980's Ford fiesta 1.6 in mine, although it was not a direct bolt in. took a spacer on the crank and I believe I had to modify the block to take the early style water pump.
