Hi everyone,

Looking at trying to find or fabricate a cheap fencing t-post pounder for my T450 Bobcat. Just wondering if anyone out there has actually used this product/design as I plan on making an attachment like this for my quick attach forks or bucket. That said, if anyone out there has a good solution for pounding 10,000 t-posts with their skid steer that doesn't cost into the thousands, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Honestly, I have never had to worry about "pounding" in posts. This year I may have run into an issue, but we never pulled the posts from our snow fence last year so I don't have to put them back in this year. We have been extremely dry this fall so the ground is getting pretty hard. I have been on this property for 6 years now and we put 2 snow fences up each year. The weight of the skid steer is always enough to just push the posts in. I hold the post, my fiance sets the bucket on top of the post, I step back, and she pushes the post down. I think that I have had to use the manual post driver a handful of times in the last 6 years to finish setting a post in the ground. I'm sure that soils are different everywhere, but I would maybe see if you could just push the posts in before you invest a lot into a driver.

Thanks for posting! We've got some rocky areas I'm worried about but you're right: maybe I'll just give it a shot with the bucket first. Thanks!

I started using a hydraulic hammer breaker to make holes for fence posts in rocky area here.
No auger or pounder would get posts in without braking auger or wood posts when pounding.
I just use hammer down into Rocky soil then put wood post in then hammer post with a temporary steel cap on top to protect wood from point.

When using the loader to push in T posts sometimes its helpful to add dirt / gravel/ rock in the bucket for extra weight when pushing down

This works for us as well. Just make sure the operator doesn't drop rocks on the man holding the post upright.

In addition, we welded a plate on the end of a thick walled piece of pipe that is just the length we want above ground, slide it over the post then push down on the plate. This keeps the post from bending and you get the post exactly the correct height every time.

Just a friendly note. I bought the Danuser T3 driver this year, no regrets-works great on t posts and pipe. Haven't driven anywhere close to what you are, but glad I spent the money. I'm just a retired guy, not a big rancher .
Good luck.
