hard turning over

ok.Im moving a bundle of wood today on a bobcat,i believe 763 or a medium sized one.cant remember exact name.got top heavy and went over on me to a complete vertical position with forks only thing from keeping me from going completely over.It was about 10 minutes before we were able to tip it back to 4 wheels on the ground.When i tried to start it,it seemed very hard to turn over and would not completely turn over,as if a very heavy load was on the battery.battery tested fine,so not sure why it should not start.Until this point,no trouble at all.have had it for 3 years and very reliable.could i have damaged the motor? thanks in advance for help,ideas,and suggestions

what probally happen is that oil got into the cylinder , oil doesn't compress and that is why it won't turn over , it could have bent the connecting rod when you tried to start it ----------- what I think I would do at this point is to remove the 4 glow plugs and spin the motor over which should blow the oil out the glow plug holes , if it turns over freely then reinstall the plugs and try to start it , it will probally smoke for a while till all the oil burns out the cylinders , if it continues to smoke it could be from the rod being bent

I think fishfiles nailed it.
When they tip up, oil from the breether can get into the inlet manifold causing hydraulic lock. When this happens, the first thing you should do is remove the plugs and spin it over to get the oil out. If there was enough speed as it cranked it can bend or even break a conrod and punch a hole in the block. There is a good chance your air filters will also need changing as they get oil soaked from engine oil.
I hope the engine survived, but if there is a bad noise/rattle, don't keep running it. Pull it and check your con rods, a few hundred in a new head gasket and rods is better than 5k for an engine.

Good to hear. Because diesels use such high compression, if you have just enough oil/water in the cylinders while cranking it will get enough speed up and lock, then break a rod or piston. Alwyas glad to hear no damage was done.
