How do you adjust the hand controls, have short arms and have to lean forward to push controls all the way forward. I find its hard on my back, could you please help me adjust so I can sit back in my seat better.

Depends, what machine do you have?
The later ones have adjustable lengths, you may have enough adjustment to get it to where you want.
Can you slide your seat further forward too?

I have a s185 2002
That should have the bolts to adjust them. Lift the cab, you should see them on the steering linkages that cross over the chain case. If it has this setup, you will see two bolts/nuts on each linkage, remove them and slide them forward to the point you want. But be careful, you can't move them too far as they will bottom out on the plate that they pass through. This will limit your reverse travel.

if you adjust the flat steering bars then you will be faster in reverse or foward then vice versa ------ I have never been asked this question before but maybe you could try bending the steering lever pipes by putting a block of wood between the pipes and the console and pulling on it but it may bottom out on the console when you go in reverse -----------I do remember a guy with short legs and I tie wired 2 x4 's to the foot pedals for him
