gehl 4635 starter trouble

I replaced my starter today on my gehl, I checked all the connection an started it a few times evey thing was good. I ran it around a few minutes an I smelled smoke. The starter got fryed it was a remanufactured starter 11 tooth. The differance was the remanufactured starter is 2.2 K W the one I took out was 2.3 KW. The starter locked up I thank because the bendex didn.t pull the gear in it was 1/4 in hanging up.Any help would be good. Thank you Jerry.

Is it possible your starter relay is sticking making the starter keep cranking?
There is no reason the .1kw would cause it to fry like that.

Tazz thanks for the idea. I put a new starter in for the second time. I really listened an the starter was ingaged . It was strange I by passed the seat switch an the starter stoped winding up but the hyd wouldn't work . The switch was good. I put a new ignition switch and it fixed the trouble with the starter staying ingaged. Simple fix with alot of headaces.
