I recently had a hose pop off my Gehl 2600. I had fluid loss so I replaced it with some hydra-trans universal fluid. Now for some reason when I raise the arms or turn the bucket it moves just a few inches and stops. Every time I move the levers they move a few inches, so I have been moving the bucket and arms a few inches at a time. Does this sound like a pump problem, air in the lines, or fluid type issues? The unit drives and steers great, just a lift and bucket problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Park where you dont mind a mess, crack the lift and curl hose fittings open and see if you get a frothy farty air and fluid mix. If not id guess you have a chunk of trash holding the relief valve open, or a broken relief valve spring. Itll be a cartridge insert located in one end of your main valve block end cap, probably next to the main feed and return ports. Pull it out and take it apart.

.. Actually.. It could be rust in the relief cartridge that caused a jammed pintle. Thatd blow a hose.. And could also stick it open giving insufficient pressure to raise the boom.

I will check this out when a get a day off work. I also had the battery slide over and rub against the pump and belt near the motor. I wore a hole into the side of the battery. Do you think slipping of the belt might cause this too? I noticed there is a little play in this belt that drives the hydraulic pump.

Im not at all familiar with your gehls setup. Im picturing a belt coupled to the entire pump drive.. Meaning 3 pumps in tandem .. Two high pressure steer pumps and a gear or vane pump at the end that probably provides loader fluid and charge pressure for the drive pumps. A loose drive belt would definitely not help anything and should be addressed immediately before you shred it and tear stuff up via shrapnel.
